Responsible for HR and Technology, functions vital to CN’s U.S. acqui­sitions. Reported to the CEO; member of strategic and operating com­mittees. Provided functional leadership on organization development, change management and effective development of human capital as market capitalization increased from $2 billion to $9 billion. Extensive board involvement after 1995 IPO, evolving the succession, perform­ance management and executive compensation systems required of an NYSE/TSE-listed public company.

Reported to the CEO of management holding company, responsible for HR, legal, corporate secretarial and government affairs. As a line-ori­ented member of a small management committee, participated in all capital allocation decisions as well as diverse acquisitions and divesti­tures in the U.S. and offshore. Significant board involvement at the cor­porate level, with various U.S. and Mexican subsidiaries, and with Interbrew, which acquired John Labatt in 1995.
